The Commission has a broad mandate, broad functions and adequate powers under the Act to promote and protect the human rights of all persons in Seychelles which it aims to do in the following ways:
Develop and conduct human rights education programmes;
Review laws and policies and make recommendations to Government for the adoption of measures to promote human rights;
Monitor the implementation and compliance with international human rights treaties;
Receive and investigate complaints and help resolve complaints;
Undertake studies on issues related to human rights;
Develop and maintain corporation and collaboration with other State Institutions and NGOs through the execution of Memorandum of Understanding; and
Establish national and international human rights network.
